With the passing of summer, looking back on some of the visual and geographical explorations from the season. This is a Hipstamatic photo taken along California Highway 120 in the eastern Sierra. I like that side of the Sierra with its desert terrain.
What a wonderfully atmospheric picture
It is appropriate to show this shot of desert highway on Wordless Wednesday as it captures the silence of the desert road. Good one!
Fab shot. And B&W really works here.
…it’s a steely burnished day.
That’s a really great capture. Your photo caused me to reminisce about driving along those roads with family and friends.
The whole composition really works–the film grain with the texture of the dessert and the mountains, and the black and white.
This is not a view of California I recall, although many of my road trips there have been mostly in the dark. I’m amazed by how much this favors similar scenes in New Mexico and Colorado. Cannot pass for Texas, though. No real mountains there!
Your photo creates a ponderous mood.
