Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos #95

We at CatSynth have stepped in to host the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos this weekend.

If you would like to participate, please submit your post here or leave us a comment. And without further adieu, let us begin:

Willow has a new cat bed, which she seems to enjoy. It’s also a great perch for enjoying the view outside, and keeping an eye out for a certain orange intruder. We also wish Willow a happy “Gotcha Day” this past Friday.

By coincidence (?), China Cat also has a new bed, which actually quite resembles her coloration and markings. Looks like a great spot for curling up.

Cats can be simultaneously very serious and very playful as in the midst of a hunt. Rahel at Elms in the Yard recently encountered

Cuddling is the topic of the day at This, That and The Other Thing, where Cubby wants to snuggle with (and knead) his best bean buddy, TB.

Now we move onto cuddling of a different sort. Puddy is caught hugging her scratching post at A Byootaful Life. With her crazy antics, including a water-cooler adventure, our favorite Luna-look-a-like definitely lives up the name of this festival.

Puddy clearly gets plenty of exercise, but if your cat is on the less active side, Raising Whiskers has some tips on exercises for cats.

Cats can be quite possessive at times. At Victor Tabbycat and Nina the Torbie, Nina claims this red box in the name of Happy Cat. She does certainly look happy, not only about her red box, but the arrival of spring.

More fun and games. In the epic battle of wills unfolding at Life from a Cat’s Perspective, it’s Tuxie Cat 1 Rat Terrier 0.

That concludes the Festival for now. Thanks to everyone who participated, and we will continue to accept submissions through the end of Sunday.

Weekend Cat Blogging: our neighbor

The M-Cats Club is hosting Weekend Cat Blogging, so we at CatSynth thought it would be appropriate to feature a “man cat.”

This is our neighbor Henry, who has visited us a few times. Luna is still a bit wary of him, though.

and keeps a watchful eye on him:

Weekend Cat Blogging #202 is hosted by Mr. Tigger and the M-Cats Club.

Whenever there are two cats here, this is always some chaos. The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos will be hosted by Kashim and Othello and Salome.

The Carnival of the Cats will be up this Sunday at Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Thoughts for Jason of Criz Cats who has gone missing, and for the other cats who have been sick or passed away in what was a difficult week.

Weekend Cat Blogging: 月神

As part of my bid to learn at least a little bit of Chinese, I have given Luna an appropriate Chinese name: 月神, or “Queen of the Night”. The character 月 by itself refers to the moon.

And since my return our little Queen of the Night is enjoying, indeed demanding, much attention.

I did see more cats in China on this trip, this time mostly strays. This orange cat was in Fuxing Park in Shanghai.

Like most cities, there are lots of stray cats in Shanghai. I did hear from a friend who was showing me around that there is a new program to help feed and care for stray cats, but I have not been able to find any information online.

And now, for the first time in a while, we have an opportunity to relax, and to catch up on things at home:

Weekend Cat Blogging #197 is being hosted by LB and Breadchick at The Sour Dough. They have the winning combination of cats, music (audio gear) and red wine.

The auspicious Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos #88 is being hosted by Miz Mog and the Kitties at Mind of Mog. (Yes, it’s another Chinese reference, go look it up).

The Carnival of the Cats #261 will be up this Sunday at Nikitas Place

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Really almost back to normal

Luna is back home again after the China trip and final round of construction at CatSynth HQ. Things are almost back to normal.

We now get plenty of sunlight again.

But we still have much of the paper and plastic material covering the floors, and we are anxiously awaiting the cleaning crew. Cleaning day is supposed to be today actually, but so far no sign of the crew. Not having the cleaning done today would be annoying for a variety of reasons, some of which are not appropriate topics for WCB. For now, we are simply eager to start putting everything back in its place, including our artwork:

But meanwhile Luna continues to demonstrate that she, too, is a work of art, very graceful and elegant.

Sir Tristan Tabbycat Longtail hosts a very manly Weekend Cat Blogging in honor of tomorrow’s big game.

The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos returns to its roots with Megan and Bad Kitty Cats.

The Carnival of the Cats will be going up this Sunday at Mind of Mog

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Patio one last time

This weekend we revisit Luna’s adventures on the patio, before the construction/destruction begins on Monday.

It is ironic how it was only after our move to the city that Luna got to enjoy time outdoors. Our patio is high above the ground and safely enclosed by high walls. The watery theme of the murals depict ocean, beaches, and all sorts of critters:

It will be sad to see it so badly damaged in the construction. Fortunately, we are going to have it restored in the spring. No two original works of art are ever alike, but the restored version could end up even better.

Another issue with the construction is that is isn’t a safe place for a cat. Luna will be checking into a great nearby boarding facility. She will be doted on and treated quite well. However, it is probably going to be a bit lonely here at CatSynth HQ.

Weekend Cat Blogging #178 is being hosted by Cece at Mind of Mog.

The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos is being hosted by Kashim at the BKCFOC home site.

The Carnival of the Cats will be at Chey’s place this Sunday.

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Chat Noir et Fromage

Our friends at the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats are hosting a special food edition of Weekend Cat Blogging, in honor of Sher.

Luna inspects the new poster for our kitchen area:

What could be more appropriate for the kitchen of CatSynth HQ than a chat noir and fromage. Luna certainly bares quite a resemblance to the cat in the poster, including the green eyes. And we have some fromage for today’s post:

The hard cheese on the left from Wensleydale Dairy in the town of Hawes in Yorkshire, UK. The round is a California Crottin, an artisan goat cheese, from Redwood Hill Farm in Sonoma County, just an hour or so up the coast from us.

I did offer Luna a small piece of the Crottin, as she occasionally likes cheese, but more to sniff than to eat. She was far more interested in the wrapping paper from the poster than the fine selection of cheeses:

Check out the other cats and food at Weekend Cat Blogging. Lots of fish for the enjoyment of humans and cats alike.

The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos is being hosted at The Tuxedo Gang Hideout.

The Carnival of Cats will be hosted this evening by Miz. Mog and Kitties.

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Snuggle

We recently received our “snuggle” from DKM (“Diva Kitty Mom”). It is black-and-white, perfect colors for both Luna and CatSynth HQ.

In addition to being a comfy place to sit, it comes with a special “treat”. The astute observer may see the catnip scattered on the surface of the yarn.

Luna took to this right away.

and seemed to quite enjoy herself. Indeed, she is quite fond of catnip. You can watch this video of the usually dignified Luna “nipped out” on her snuggle:

Weekend Cat Blogging #165 is being hosted by Pet and the Bengal Brats.

The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos is Sunday at Mind of Mog.

The Carnival of the Cats will be hosted by Samantha and Tigger (I believe Samantha just had a birthday).

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Another busy weekend

Between rehearsals, work, and social activities, this Sunday morning is our first break at CatSynth for Weekend Cat Blogging. And so we make the most of our time, with photos from the studio:

and downstairs:

Luna had just done something very cute, lifting up the red-and-green mouse-on-the-spring toy with her paw. It’s one of those countless things that just happens – they are not photographed, but just enjoyed in real time, and then recorded in words.

Weekend Cat Blogging is being hosted by Kate and Puddy from “Puddy’s corner,” which features a scratching post and tunnel, a nice leopard-print house, a chrome light stand, and other sundry items. It looks like a nice spot for a cold Australian winter day.

The next Weekend Cat Blogging will be hosted here at CatSynth!

The Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos has a new home, which will be hosting the first anniversary edition this weekend. We’re supposed to contribute a “bad thing” that Luna has done. That’s a bit of a challenge, actually.

The Carnival of the Cats will be hosted today by Kashim and Othello.

And of course the Friday Ark is at the modulator. It’s edition #199!

Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos #50

Welcome to the 50th Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos! Summer is now officially here, and we have been celebrating the solstice. We are also (yet again) experiencing a bit of a heat wave.

Nothing says summer heat like the desert. And that is where Chey finds himself lost this week.

From Egypt, we move on to Israel, where the Lady in Red enjoys hunting a mousie toy, at Elms in the Yard.

Ping is doing better this weekend, but still needs some good healing vibes from friends. Doesn’t he look a little like the Lady in Red?

Speaking of look-a-likes, Puddy is joining us again this weekend, and enjoys some chin scritches at A Byootaful Life. And honestly, who wouldn’t enjoy some chin scritches?

Meanwhile, Zorro puts an ugly vase out of its misery at the House of Chaos. We at CatSynth can sympathize with the desire to not be surrounded by ugly things.

Summer in Vermont means June bugs, and lots of them. But for Mouse, they are just more toys to be batted and squished. Andrée of Meeyauw presents Mouse’s June Bugs.

Now we go from pouncing to biting. Rosie may look sweet and innocent, but it turns out Rosie bites. Ouch!

And from sharp teeth me move on to the sharp claws of Bazel at Mind of Mog. Meanwhile, iInfidel enjoys some yummy food. And finally, the handsome Meowza relaxes as he tries to stay cool. 113F makes our own heatwave seem cool in comparison.

Samantha and Tigger are beating the heat in Florida with water. While Tigger drinks from the faucent, Samantha enjoys playing in the rain. Yes, a cat who enjoys the rain. :)

Well, that’s it so far for this weekend’s Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos. We’ll continue to post submissions that come in today. Thanks to all who participated, and stay cool!

Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos coming to CatSynth

We will be hosting the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos this weekend. The optional theme will be summer as the season is officially upon us. We also want to celebrate diversity with cats of different colors, geography, ages, histories and lifestyles.

To participate, please use the handy submission form, or leave a comment.
