About

CatSynth started from an off-hand comment at E-MU systems in 2006 when someone suggested to Amanda Chaudhary that she start a “website about cats and synth.” A few days later, she posted a photo of her cat Luna with a Novation keyboard and the rest, as they say, is history. Amanda initially posted a mixture of cats, music, and other random things, not expecting there would be such a wealth of cat-and-synth pictures out there. Today, people from all over the world contribute pictures of their cats to the blog via Facebook, , Instagram and other channels.

Amanda also used the blog to chronicle her musical adventures as a performer and listener, and after moving to San Francisco began to review music and art events more frequently. The reviews have become a major part of the blog and one of the ways CatSynth has become known in the community.

Amanda has a strong interest in visual art and photography, which makes its way into CatSynth through both reviews and the Wordless Wednesday feature. As for the “fun with highways” series, it’s just a weird thing she likes to do.

<LunaLuna is the feline star of CatSynth. Originally adopted by Amanda in 2005, she has been a part of the site since its inception. She likes to spend time in the studio and occasionally deigns to show curiosity about the gear. But mostly she enjoys playing, relaxing, and giving and receiving affection.

    1. Hi! It’s a concept blog about “Cats, Synthesizers, Music, Art, and whatever else we feel like talking about.” It’s a deeply personal project but bigger than one person (and one cat).

I’m not sure I understand the question. Is there a significance to whether CatSynth is or isn’t a “personal blog?”
